First aid training and certification

The HSE approved Emergency First Aid at Work can be adapted to suit a particular audience and work needs, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations and individual workplace First Aid risk assessment requirements.
The course is run over one day or can be split over two three hour sessions and includes both theory and practical sessions, in a relaxed atmosphere, designed to boost a candidate's confidence in general First Aid.

The Emergency First Aid at Work Syllabus Includes:

  • First Aid Priorities 
  • Managing Incidents 
  • Basic Life Support
  • ​Use of and AED / Defibrilator
  • Examination of a Casualty & Recovery Position
  • Unconsciousness includes; Heart Attack, Head Injuries, Faint, Intoxication, Shock, Stroke, Asthma & Anaphylaxis, Shock, Poisons, Epilepsy  and Diabetes
  • Control of Bleeding
  • Burns and Scalds 
  • Fractures & Dislocations
  • Regulations 
  • First Aid Kits
  • Recording and Reporting 

Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no final exam. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for three years*.

Cost  £70.00 per person (includes manual and certification) 

*Under the current guidelines it is “strongly recommend” that first aid trained staff attend a half-day update every 12 months, before completing full re-qualification training at the three year point.
