Paediatric First Aid – 2 day course (12 Hours)
This course is aimed at professionals looking after infants and children up to the age of puberty, nursery and school staff, dealing with foundation stages and playgroup leaders that require a recognised certificate in line with local authority and meeting with standards required by Ofsted.
This course includes both theory and practical sessions with ongoing assessment of the candidates throughout the course by the trainer.
The syllabus includes:
Dealing with an Emergency and First Aid Priorities
Communication and Casualty care
Primary Survey, Recovery position
Resuscitation (Basic Life Support) Child and baby
Use of AED / Defibrillator where appropriate
Unconsciousness, Reasons for and treatment.
Seizures / epilepsy
Control of Bleeding, applying dressings and Shock
Burns and Scalds
Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
Eye and ear injuries
Childhood illnesses, including meningitis, febral convulsions and diabetes.
Asthma / Anaphylaxis recognition and treatment
Recording and Reporting of incidents
First Aid Kits
There is no formal examination and those who successfully complete the course are deemed to have reached the required standard, they are awarded a certificate that is valid for three years. It is highly recommended to complete a skills refresher course of 3 hours at least once a year.
Cost £95.00 per person includes a certificate and manual. Refreshments supplied.
Nursery and School staff POA for multiple bookings.
Re-qualification after 3 years is a one day course. Cost £65.00
